French police on Thursday killed the suspected gunman who attacked a Christmas market in Strasbourg.
Cherif Chekatt, 29, was on the run since Tuesday's incident, which left three people dead and many more injured. Hundreds of police and security forces had been searching for him in France and Germany.
France Info reported that he was killed by police after he was found hiding in a warehouse in the Meinau area of the city.
Chekatt had a string of criminal convictions and had become a radical Islamist while in prison. Authorities said a taxi driver dropped him off Tuesday evening in the Neudorf neighborhood, south of the eastern French city's center, after the shooting near the Christmas market.
Chekatt allegedly shouted "God is great!" in Arabic and sprayed gunfire during Tuesday's rampage.
