Fox News' Juan Williams Monday defended his criticisms of President Donald Trump's effect on the economy, saying they weren't a personal attack on the president and explaining the circumstances behind Trump's claims that he'd once asked him to take a picture of the two of them.

After Williams' comments on Fox News Sunday, the president called him "pathetic" in a tweet and claimed "he asked me to take a picture of him and me for his family."

Williams, though, told Fox News colleague Guy Benson that the maintenance man in the lobby had asked if he could get a picture with Trump at the Fox News building. The reporter said he asked Trump, and Trump agreed, so they took the photograph, reports Mediaite.

“And then the maintenance man says ‘do you want a picture?’ I’m, like, ‘okay.’ And here comes Ed Henry," said Williams. "That’s what happened. There’s nothing about a request for my family, and I didn’t ask for a picture for myself. This all started because the maintenance man asked… I didn’t ask for the picture!”

Benson and Williams both agreed that there would have been nothing wrong if Williams had asked for the picture.

They further discussed the president's comments on Sunday expressing how he is not satisfied with Fox News and the polls it releases.
