Eric Trump on Tuesday called domestic abuse "truly the lowest of low" and said President Donald Trump takes the issue "very seriously" in light of the allegations against former White House staff secretary Rob Porter.

"There's nothing worse in the world than domestic abuse," the president's son told Rita Cosby on the "Curtis and Cosby" Show on WABC Radio with Cosby and Curtis Sliwa.

"It's truly the lowest of low — and you have to take it very seriously.

"He does take it very seriously."

The fallout continued Tuesday over Porter's resignation last week after The Daily Mail reported abuse allegations by his two former wives.

White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said the in-house security office had not finished reviewing Porter's background investigation when he resigned — and FBI Director Christopher Wray told lawmakers that the agency had closed its probe of his security clearance in November.

Politico also reported that Sanders arranged an off-the-record interview between Porter and four journalists, where he told them that his first ex-wife was photographed with a black eye after she had fallen in a honeymoon argument.

Trump told Cosby that the recent spate of sexual-harassment allegations that have roiled Hollywood and corporate American would have a broader effect in ending such violence.

"It's good that, for the first time, so much of this has become public — because, ultimately, it helps stop the problem that clearly exists in society."

He also noted that President Trump has empowered women throughout the Trump Organization "at a time when not many women were being empowered in those fields" of construction.

"I think he deserves credit for that."

Turning to the scare his sister-in-law, Vanessa Trump, faced Monday when she received an envelope containing a white powdery substance, Eric Trump said that his wife, Lara, faced a similar circumstance last year.

The substance in that mailing, like the one for Vanessa Trump, turned out to be non-toxic, he said.

"It's sad that people exist out there in the world that are crazy," Trump told Cosby. "But it, I guess, comes with the territory."
