WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama is welcoming the Egyptian military's commitment to a democratic civilian transition and to the country's international obligations, most notably a peace treaty with Israel.
The White House says Obama discussed the situation in Egypt during calls to British Prime Minister David Cameron, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan (REH'-jehp TY'-ihp UR'-doh-wahn), and King Abdullah of Jordan, who's facing protests in his own country.
The White House says Obama told the leaders the U.S. will provide any support requested by the Egyptian people as they pursue an orderly transition to democracy.
