Egypt: Nighttime Curfew Eased after Mubarak Ouster

Saturday, 12 Feb 2011 07:10 AM

CAIRO (AP) — Egypt's state television says the country's nighttime curfew has been relaxed.

It now starts at midnight and ends at 6 a.m. instead of 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Saturday's announcement comes one day after President Hosni Mubarak stepped down, handing over power to the armed forces after an 18-day uprising by millions of protesters demanding his ouster and the introduction of sweeping democratic reforms.

The relaxation of the curfew is a sign that life is returning to normal.
