MSNBC's Schultz to Obama: I'm Ready to Go 'Face-to-Face'

MSNBC host Ed Schultz fired back at President Barack Obama after he taunted the host over his comments criticizing the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade deal.

Speaking to the Organizing for Action Summit in Washington, D.C., on Thursday, Obama said, "If you were watching MSNBC and all this stuff, you were thinking, 'Oh man. I loved Obama, but what’s going on here?' So I want to set the record straight. I want to be clear about what we are doing. Because I believe in what I’m doing here."

Schultz took umbrage at the remark on his show Thursday night.

"Well, Mr. President, I want you to know that I believe in what I’m doing," Schultz said. "If you can prove to the American people that there will not be a depression of wages, if you can prove to the American people that this will create jobs, if you want to go face-to-face with me, President Obama, I’m ready to go because I have the facts, OK?"

Addressing Obama, Schultz said, "American workers will suffer if this deal goes through, and Mr. President, your recovery of the economy, the automobile industry, and healthcare will not be your legacy. It will be what you’re doing to the very people who put you in office."

Unions helped him beat Republicans John McCain in 2008 and Mitt Romney in 2012, and now Obama is turning his back on them with "this phony trade deal," Schultz said.
