NBA star Dwyane Wade said Thursday that he was "conflicted" about Donald Trump's controversial Twitter post over the weekend after the fatal shooting of his cousin in Chicago.

"I was grateful that it started a conversation — but on the other hand, it just left a bad taste in my mouth because of what my family is dealing with and what our city of Chicago is dealing with," Wade told George Stephanopoulos of ABC News for an interview to be aired Friday on "Good Morning America."

"It looks like it's being used as political gain," he said.

Wade's comments were the first from the Chicago Bulls guard since his cousin, Nykea Aldridge, 32, was shot to death on Aug. 26.

She was gunned down while pushing a stroller in the Parkway Gardens neighborhood on Chicago's South Side.

Wade, 34, recently signed as a free agent with the Bulls after playing for 13 years with the Miami Heat. He is from Chicago.

Trump posted this tweet on Saturday after the shooting:

The Republican nominee then posted this tweet after heavy backlash:

Aldridge, who had four children, was not the intended target, according to Chicago police.

Two brothers that authorities said were known gang members have been arrested and charged with first-degree murder and attempted murder in her death, ABC reports.
