Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., said he has "no friggin' idea" why special counsel John Durham's report took so long, but he said it was better late than never.
"The Durham report is damning," Graham told Sunday's "The Cats Roundtable" on WABC 770 AM-N.Y. "It shows the FBI became a political weapon. They wanted to get Trump. They didn't care how they did it."
The report, released Monday, found the FBI had no "actual evidence" to start the investigation into the Trump campaign and relied heavily on the unverified allegations of then-candidate Donald Trump's political opponents.
"It is done and it's damning," Graham said. "They took the rule of law and threw it over to try to get a political outcome."
Anti-Trump operatives spun a narrative the "colluded to sell a false story that Donald Trump was a Russian agent. His campaign was being run by Russia," Graham told host John Catsimatidis
It effectively lured the FBI to investigate the sitting president's political opposition, where "they ignored all the exculpatory evidence," Graham added.
"They're trying to make you believe that Trump was a Russian agent working for the Russians when he wasn't," Graham said. "We live in a very dangerous time. So, God bless the Durham report.
"I hope we'll all understand it's Republicans today, it'll be Democrats tomorrow."
