Canadian Pastor Arrested for Disrupting Drag Queen Shows for Kids

An outspoken Canadian pastor has been arrested for the second time in two weeks at public libraries for allegedly disrupting drag queen storytime events for children.

On Wednesday, pastor Derek Reimer, 36, was charged with one count of breaching a release order which prohibited the Canadian citizen from being within 200 meters of events involving the LGBTQ community.

Reimer's earlier March 2 arrest stemmed from a Feb. 25 incident, in which three men tossed the preacher out of Seton Library for protesting a "Reading With Royalty" event conducted by the Calgary Public Library.

At that outing, a group of local drag performers read to children.

Footage of Reimer's most recent arrest was released this week, with the pastor being handcuffed and dragged in a parking lot outside the Signal Hill Library in Calgary.

According to reports, bystanders protested Reimer's treatment by Calgary police and questioned whether he had gotten within 200 meters of the event.

Reimer will reportedly remain in prison at least until Friday, the date of his next court appearance.

For the March 2 arrest, Reimer was charged with one count of causing a disturbance and one count of mischief. He also faces six counts of harassment under Calgary's bylaw governing public behavior.

According to Livewire Calgary, each charge carries a maximum penalty of $10,000 and up to six months imprisonment if payment cannot be made.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Reimer made headlines when he was continually arrested for keeping his Calgary church open during the shutdown.

Preceding Reimer's arrest from this week, the Calgary City Council revised a bylaw and introduced a new measure covering increased protests at drag events.

CBC reports the modifications included the term "intimidation" to the current public behavior bylaw, and the new Safe and Inclusive Access Bylaw "prohibits protests within 100 meters of a recreation facility or library entrance."

Pastor Artur Pawlowski told Fox News Digital that Reimer's arrests reveal the government's "open hatred toward Christianity."

"Everyone who is visible, everyone in Canada who is boldly proclaiming Christianity, has become an open target," said Pawlowski.

"Calgary was immune for a little bit from the drag queen perversion — because that's what it is: It's a sick, twisted perversion, and you can quote me on that," added Pawlowski. "An adult man who dresses as a woman in a sexual manner and has the urge to do that in front of little children is a pervert, end of story."
