Donald Trump Jr. claimed on Thursday that rock star Bruce Springsteen's recently dismissed charge of driving while intoxicated in New Jersey was dropped because of the singer's ''liberal privilege.''

''I'd say it's #WhitePrivilege but we all know it's really #LiberalPrivilege,'' Trump tweeted on Thursday.

Prosecutors dropped two of the charges against Springsteen related to his drinking in a closed area at Gateway National Recreation Area in Sandy Hook before driving. They noted in dropping the charges that Springsteen's blood alcohol content was well below the state's legal limit.

The New Jersey icon admitted in a virtual hearing to having ''two small shots of tequila'' at the time. Assistant U.S. Attorney Adam Baker noted that Springsteen refused a preliminary Breathalyzer at the time, but he was not legally required to do so and ''he did submit to the legally required breath test when he was at the ranger station.''
