President Donald Trump went after Hillary Clinton and former FBI Director James Comey again in early morning tweets on Wednesday.

Newsweek reported documents released Monday by the FBI confirmed that Comey had drafted a statement about the conclusion of the Clinton email probe months before interviewing her.

According to the magazine, the records reveal that on May 2, 2016, Comey had sent an email to three top FBI officials. The subject was listed as "midyear exam." However, the body of the email was redacted, Newsweek noted.

One of those who received the email, senior counselor James Rybicki, responded: "Please send me any comments on this statement so we may roll into a master doc for discussion with the Director at a future date. Thanks, Jim."

The agency titled the release of the documents: "Drafts of Director Comey's July 5, 2016 Statement Regarding Email Server Investigation."

Clinton was not interviewed by the FBI until July 2, 2016, Newsweek reported.

Meanwhile, The Hill noted the document likely will spark questions why Comey waited months after beginning to draft his statement to announce the end of the investigation.
