Donald Trump Thursday condemned the attacks in Israel that killed four people a day after they occurred — in a reversal from when he immediately suggested that last month's EgyptAir crash was terrorism.

"I condemn, in the strongest possible terms, the outrageous terrorist shootings that took the lives of at least four innocent civilians and wounded at least twenty others in Tel Aviv," the presumptive Republican nominee said on Facebook.

"The American people stand strong with the people of Israel, who have suffered far too long from terrorism," he added. "Israel's security is a matter of paramount importance to me and the American people."

Trump came under fire, from Democrat Hillary Clinton and Obama administration officials, for posting a tweet within hours on May 19 after EgyptAir Flight MS804 went down over the Mediterranean Sea — suggesting that the crash "looks like yet another terrorist attack."

The plane was heading to Cairo from Paris. It was carrying 66 passengers and crew members.

In Tel Aviv on Wednesday night, two gunmen opened fire in the Sarona Market, killing two men and two women and injuring 20 others. The assault was the deadliest single incident since an attack on a Jerusalem synagogue in November 2014 that killed five people.

Two gunmen, identified by authorities as Palestinian cousins in their 20s who apparently entered Israel without permits, were quickly apprehended. One was shot and wounded. The assailants came from near Hebron, in the Israeli-occupied West Bank.

The Facebook post also comes amid reports that casino magnate Sheldon Adelson plans to back a trip to Israel for Trump. He endorsed the developer last month.

In the Thursday post, Trump broached the terrorism issue toward the end of his comments.

"We understand all too well the unspeakable horror that terrorism unleashes," he said. "To address it — and address it we must! — we must recognize the parallel horror of the culture of religious hatred that permeates many Palestinian quarters.

"From schools that indoctrinate toddlers to grow up to kill Israelis to the daily menu of hate that spews forth from various 'news organizations,' change is long overdue in the Palestinian territories.

"Let us begin the arduous task of creating a future where peace can take root and terror finds no refuge," Trump said.
