President Donald Trump may shun the modern tradition of a pre-game interview with the president before the Super Bowl, Variety reports.
Typically, the sitting president gives an interview to the network hosting the Super Bowl. Last year, Trump spoke with Fox News host Bill O'Reilly in a pre-taped interview, and his predecessor President Barack Obama appeared on both CBS and NBC for live interviews.
However, Trump has yet to respond to the invitation from NBC this year, an unnamed source within the network told Variety.
Trump has feuded with both NBC and the NFL over the past year. He criticized team owners for not firing players who kneeled in protest during the national anthem, and he has frequently called NBC News "fake news." The network announced earlier this month that it will air protests by players at the Super Bowl.
The game takes place on Feb. 4, at the U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
