Don Jr. Compares Castro Donor List to Dayton Shooter's

(Fox News' "Fox & Friends")

President Donald Trump's oldest son Donald Jr. slammed liberals Wednesday for criticizing his father in the wake of shootings in El Paso and Dayton while drawing a comparison between a list of donors to his father released by Rep. Joaquin Castro, D-Texas, to the "Dayton, Ohio, shooter's list."

"That list screams like the Dayton, Ohio, shooter's list, right?" Trump told Fox News' "Fox & Friends." "When a radical left-wing politician polling at 0% does this for either attention or a call to action, it is pretty scary. That was the same thing that the Dayton, Ohio shooter did. People should be fed up with this nonsense."

Later in the interview, however, when show host Steve Doocey commented the list reportedly compiled by the Dayton, Ohio shooting suspect was a "kill list," but Castro's list was one of the donors, Trump Jr. agreed.

"Making lists of our political enemies, trying to create the narrative is scary," he said. "If someone on our campaign did that, it would be rough."

Meanwhile, he said he thought his father's speech after the shootings was "great," but "that is never enough."

"You can see what happened with The New York Times and the headlines there, right?" he said. "They put up actually what happened, and they were hit by the mob."

The president's son also said he is concerned with growing calls about "red flag" proposals intended to keep guns out of the wrong hands.

"What I have seen with red flag laws is a total lack of due process," he said. "Trust me when you have been through for what I have been through the last 2½ years, you have to be pretty cynical about big government, their ability to weaponize a narrative as they did with Russia."
