The Donald Trump campaign followed up on its attacks on a GOP presidential rival Monday by sending a case of Trump-brand bottled water to Florida Sen. Marco Rubio,
CNN reports.
The "care package" sent to Rubio's Washington campaign office included a 24-bottle case of "Trump Ice Natural Spring Water," which has Trump's picture on it, two "Make America Great Again" towels and bumper stickers.
There also was a note reading, "Since you're always sweating, we thought you could use some water. Enjoy!"
Apparently Rubio did enjoy, according to NBC News.
"The water is very high quality water. It’s top notch water that he sent us," Rubio said
Tuesday morning on "Today." “So we’re grateful for the gift.”
Trump has made fun of Rubio for sweating and drinking lots of water recently.
"I've never seen a young guy sweat that much. He's drinking water, water, water. I never saw anything like this with him with the water," Trump said during a campaign stop in South Carolina."
On MSNBC's "Morning Joe," Trump continued the jabs, saying, "I've never seen a guy down water like he downs water. They bring it in in buckets for this guy."
Rubio has long been ridiculed for his water drinking, starting when
he delivered the GOP response to President Barack Obama's State of the Union speech in 2013. Rubio reached far off camera to grab a bottle of water and take a sip before reaching off camera again to put the bottle back.
During the second GOP debate in September, held in drought-stricken California, Rubio poked fun at himself, telling Californians not to worry, because he brought his own water.
The water sent to Rubio by Trump is commonly seen on Trump properties around the world, CNN reported, and contains the phrase: "Water for the Body & Soul ... This is water the way it was meant to be."
