Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump's campaign said it raised over $18 million since Monday night's debate against Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton, according to The Washington Times.

The campaign further said the whopping amount signals "momentum of historic proportions."

"This is a movement to Make America Great Again," Steven Mnuchin, the campaign's finance chairman, was quoted as saying.

"We are grateful for the support of millions of Americans across the country. With this kind of energy and generous support behind us, we are going to have President Donald J. Trump in the White House," he said.

The money was raised in partnership with the Republican National Committee, the campaign stated.

The Trump campaign on its own raised about $42 million in August, according to The Wall Street Journal. Along with joint committees, the campaign reported a total of about $90 million last month.

Day after the first presidential debate, Trump had tweeted that he had raised nearly $13 million in the previous 24 hours through online donations and "National Call Day."

"We're still going! Thank you America! #MAGA" (Make America Great Again), Trump also said in the tweet. He announced the updated figure at an airport rally in Melbourne, Fla.

Clinton's campaign hasn't given out any details regarding donations within 24 hours of the presidential debate yet.
