Dershowitz Blasts University Newspaper for Being 'Totally One-Sided'

Alan Dershowitz told "Fox & Friends" on Wednesday that "The Daily Californian" newspaper refused to print his reply to what he considered an anti-Semitic op-ed that attacked him for his defense of Israel.

The op-ed in the University of California, Berkeley student newspaper accused Dershowitz of having "blood on his hands" and being "culpable for the perpetuation of … [Israeli] atrocities" after he gave a speech on campus.

Dershowitz said he tried to submit an opinion article in the school paper, but "they absolutely categorically refused to print my response, even though it was a very factual response."

"The Daily Cal, as many college newspapers today, are totally one-sided," Dershowitz said. "You can say whatever you want about people like me if I'm pro-Israel. I don't get to respond… That is what is happening on university campuses all over the country today. One point of view. If you don’t like it, you don’t get to hear the other point of view."

Dershowitz did publish a response in the Washington Examiner, where he struck back at the accusations against him.

Dershowitz also pointed out on "Fox & Friends" that a student group at Princeton University tried to get a speech by Israeli Deputy Foreign Minister Tzipi Hotovely canceled, because they "only want to hear one perspective."

Dershowitz criticized the administration at many universities for not trusting "the students to make judgments about speakers. They have to have committees making censorship decisions [about] who gets heard and who doesn't get heard."
