David Petraeus to Testify Before Benghazi Panel Next Month

Former CIA Director David Petraeus will testify next month before the special House subcommittee investigating the 2012 Benghazi attacks that killed four Americans.

Petraeus, the retired Army four-star general, is to appear on Jan. 6, the panel said Thursday.

He came under fire for security issues during the attacks at the U.S. compound in Libya that killed Ambassador Christopher Stevens and three other Americans, including two former Navy SEALs.

The Benghazi panel is chaired by Republican Rep. Trey Gowdy of South Carolina. Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton appeared before the committee in October.

Among the others scheduled to appear before the panel are:

• Jeffrey Feltman, former assistant secretary of state for near Eastern affairs, on Dec. 8.
• Charlene Lamb, former deputy assistant secretary of state for international programs for diplomatic security, on Dec. 16.
• Thomas Nides, former deputy secretary of state for management and resources, on Dec. 16.
