The White House is not ready for impeachment proceedings that could be coming, President Donald Trump's former deputy campaign manager David Bossie said in a podcast broadcast Tuesday.
"Do I see a killer team that is ready for the impeachment proceedings that are potentially coming?" Bossie told ABC News' "The Investigation" podcast. "Do I think the White House is ready? From a staff standpoint, I would say no. Do I believe they are in the process of getting ready? Yes."
Bossie said that the White House will be under even more pressure after special counsel Robert Mueller wraps up his investigation, and the administration and congressional Republicans will need help.
He told ABC News that he has spoken privately with House GOP leaders, telling them that they must have a "bigger staff and a bigger budget" if the investigation gets bigger.
Bossie served in 1997 as the GOP's chief investigator for the House Oversight Committee during the investigation into then-President Bill Clinton's role in the Whitewater deal but resigned his post following questions about his fundraising activities.
He said he is focusing on helping Trump and congressional Republicans with the growing Democratic investigation and said Republicans need improvements in how they're handling things. He said he is particularly dissatisfied with the grilling of Trump's former attorney, Michael Cohen, saying they should have "gone much harder" on Cohen's credibility.
Bossie also would like the Mueller report to be made public, but he also believes the probe will show there was no collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia.
