On D-Day, Limbaugh Calls Migrant Surge 'Invasion Force'

Radio host Rush Limbaugh on Thursday drew an analogy between the number of troops storming the beaches at Normandy on D-Day to the "invasion force" of illegal immigrants at the Mexico-U.S. border.

"Let me try another way of putting D-Day in perspective," Limbaugh said on his daily show, as he ran through statistics about the history-changing event.

"Our landing force was outnumbered and outgunned," he said. "By the time you add it all up, it was 150,000 people, and they obviously pushed through, uprooted and forced [the Germans] to retreat."

"Now, to put this in perspective, [Wednesday] officials from the [Customs and Border Patrol]  announced that agents encountered more than 144,000 undocumented illegal aliens at the border in May, in one month. Some might say an invasion force similar to that which stormed the beaches at D-Day."

"It was the same number of people, pretty much," he continued. "They're not armed, and it's not a military invasion, obviously, but it nevertheless is an invasion."

"I think it's a fascinating way to put all this in perspective," he declared.

President Donald Trump has often complained about how he has not been able to do more to stop the tide of illegal immigration, which he has likened to an "invasion."
