A photo of comedian Kathy Griffin holding a mock bloodied head of President Donald Trump was posted Tuesday by TMZ.
Griffin, 56, paired up with controversial photographer Tyler Shields for the shoot and joked during it that she and Shields would need to move to Mexico once the image was released out of fear of being imprisoned.
"We're going to go to prison — federal prison. Call your dad, apologize," Griffin told Shields.
In a video posted on TMZ, Griffin said her and Shields were "not afraid to do images that make noise."
Shields previously angered animal rights activists when he shot a crocodile chewing on a Hermes Birkin handbag for a shoot.
The Trump photo quickly went viral with Griffin and Shields facing backlash on social media as some compared it to Griffin channeling ISIS' beheadings.
