A Fox News report  has pointed out that San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick made negative comments about Hillary Clinton in addition to negative comments about Donald Trump, but Fox News said the anti-Clinton comments were not reported as widely.

Kaepernick has been under fire after he announced to NFL Media that he would sit during the performance of the national anthem, instead of standing.

"I'm not going to show pride in a flag that oppresses black people," Kaepernick said.

In a follow-up discussion about his stance, he called Donald Trump "openly racist."

The USA Today NinersWire transcript of the follow-up discussion shows that Kaepernick added, "You have Hillary who has called black teens or black kids super predators."

"We have a presidential candidate who has deleted emails and done things illegally and is a presidential candidate," he added. "That doesn't make sense to me because if that was any other person, you'd be in prison."

After his comments about Trump and not standing for the anthem, Kaepernick received criticism from multiple corners.

Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee said Kaepernick was "an arrogant fool."

Former 49er Jerry Rice slammed Kaepernick in a tweet.

Basketball great Kareem Abdul-Jabbar came to Kaepernick's defense, saying he had the right to do it. Abdul-Jabbar said he disagreed with Kaepernick, but "He's just doing what Thomas Jefferson said should be done," referring to one of the founders of the Constitution.

"Freedom of speech is what helps make our country the greatest on Earth," Abdul-Jabbar said.
