After watching part of Monday’s debate between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton, San Francisco 49ers backup quarterback Colin Kaepernick had nothing positive to say about either one of the presidential candidates.

Kaepernick, who has drawn plentiful media attention for his decision to kneel rather than stand during the national anthem when it is played before a game as a form of protest against what he perceives as racial inequality in the United States, told reporters Tuesday “it was embarrassing” that Clinton and Trump are the candidates in the presidential election, USA Today reported.

Kaepernick indicated that he doesn’t expect either candidate to help minorities much and called them both “proven liars.”

Further comments from Kaepernick attacked Clinton for calling black teens “superpredators” and for deleting emails and doing other questionable things but getting special treatment because of her position. “If that was any other person, you’d be in prison. So what is this country really standing for?” Kaepernick opined, The Washington Post reported.

Trump and Kaepernick have been going back and forth ever since the NFL player began protesting the national anthem, with Trump calling Kaepernick's actions "a terrible thing" and suggesting he "find a country that works better for him."

Kaepernick called Trump’s statement ignorant and criticized Trump’s slogan, “Make America Great Again.”

“It’s never been great for people of color. That’s something that needs to be addressed. Let’s make America great for the first time,” Kaepernick said, according to USA Today.

“You have to pick the lesser of two evils,” Kaepernick concluded of Clinton and Trump, with the New York Daily News indicating he believes that to be Clinton. “But in the end, it’s still evil.”
