Divisiveness in America is being exacerbated by CNN's anti-President Donald Trump "resistance," according to political analyst Jeff Greenfield.
"I don’t think it's surprising, at least in my view, a fair percentage of the press in one way or another thinks of itself as a kind of resistance," Greenfield told host Brian Stelter on CNN's "Reliable Sources."
Amid President Trump's "fake news" and "enemy of the people mantras," CNN and its staff have taken the position of saying, according to Greenfield: "We have to speak truth . . . we have to correct his statement about what we do."
The criticism "may be justified" to deliver "this kind of pushback," but CNN is not doing itself or the profession any favors with its anti-Trump commentary bringing on the skepticism of its fairness.
"I have to say this quite bluntly to a CNN anchor: When I look at CNN, hour after hour after hour, I see panels rather than reporting, exchanging opinions, the overwhelming majority of which on this network I regard as quite critical or hostile to Trump," said Greenfield, who added CNN's has had its mind made up on as "most of its people have taken a stand about this president and about this nomination."
