Donald Trump's promise to force Apple to build its products in America instead of China if he is elected president violates the Constitution and the free market system, says Club for Growth Action.

"Donald Trump has a new enemy: your iPhone," said Club for Growth president David McIntosh. Trump made the statement in a speech Monday at Liberty University.

McIntosh compared the statement to President Barack Obama's own view that "companies should be forced to bend to the will of whoever's in the White House."

Trump appears not to understand how free markets work, he said, "and how American companies become great by making things all over the world so they are affordable and widely available to all Americans."

Forcing all products to be made in America will drive up the price and destroy the technology sector, he said.
