The CIA recently released a
big batch of files from its decades-long project to investigate reports of Unidentified Flying Objects, and has now selected 10 it thinks believers and skeptics alike will find interesting.
On a web page titled
"Take a Peek Into Our 'X-Files," the CIA shares five files it believes would intrigue the show's Agent Fox Mulder, who would want to use them to persuade others of the existence of extraterrestrial activity.
"We also pulled five documents we think his skeptical partner, Agent Dana Scully, could use to prove there is a scientific explanation for UFO sightings," the website says.
The dates on the documents range from 1949 to 1953, though the project lasted into the 1990s.
Some of the documents never find an explanation for the reported UFO sightings, though none of them ever offer definitive proof of travelers from other planets visiting Earth,
NBC News reports.
