CIA Director Mike Pompeo says his agency is sending more agents into the field as it works to be faster and more agile in today's high-threat environment.

Pompeo didn't elaborate on how many agents are being sent into the field. But, he also says he's stressing the need to push decisions down the chain of command.

In a speech Wednesday at George Washington University, he said he's trying to reduce the number of people who have to sign off on plans. Pompeo says the agency also is investing in technology to help sift through mountains of intelligence and zero in on the best information.

Pompeo says the absence of speed and agility at the CIA is a price the United States cannot afford to pay as global events accelerate.
