A gun disguised to look like an iPhone case has drawn the attention of New York Sen. Chuck Schumer, who called the product a "dangerous weapon."
Made by IDEAL Conceal, the gun is rectangular like a phone case. Pressing the safety allows the grip to unfold and exposes the trigger of the double-barreled handgun that uses 380-caliber ammunition, according to the
New York Daily News.
"At first glance or even second glance it looks like an iPhone," Schumer told the Daily News. "Take a closer look and you will see that it's a real, deadly handgun."
Several thousand people have submitted pre-orders for the gun.
"It's clearly being marketed for nefarious purposes — 4,000 people are ready to pull the trigger on this dangerous weapon," said the senator, who wants the Department of Justice to investigate IDEAL Conceal.
Schumer called the gun "outrageous" in a midday Twitter post Monday.
Schumer has long been an advocate of gun control. Last fall,
he joined his cousin, comedian Amy Schumer, in New York City and called for Congress to pass gun control legislation.
