Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley criticized President Donald Trump on Wednesday for congratulating Russian President Vladimir Putin for his election victory, Mediaite reported.
When asked by CNN if he was okay with how Trump's phone call went with Putin, the Iowa Republican said, "I don't think I'll talk about Trump making a phone call, but I'm very happy to make a comment on what you asked me. I think Putin's a criminal. What he did in Georgia, what he did in Ukraine, what he's done in the Baltics, what he's done in London, poisoning people with nerve gas. That's a criminal activity. I wouldn't have a conversation with a criminal."
Last month Grassley sent several messages via Twitter to the president about what he should be asking Putin.
Other Republicans also have slammed Trump for his call to Putin, with Arizona Sen. John McCain being particularly unsparing in his criticism in a tweet.
