A new poll in New Hampshire Wednesday tightened the gap between Donald Trump and Ben Carson, while boosting Marco Rubio to third place.
By the numbers, the poll, conducted by
WBUR in Boston, shows:
- Trump, 18 percent (down four points from September);
- Carson, 16 percent; (down two points);
- Rubio, 11 percent (up nine points);
- Ohio Gov. John Kasich, 10 percent (up one point);
- New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, 8 percent (up six points);
- Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, 7 percent, (down two points);
- Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, 6 percent, (up one point);
- Former Hewlett-Packard executive Carly Fiorina, 6 percent (down five points);
- Sen. Rand Paul, 3 percent (down one point);
- Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal and former New York Gov. George Pataki, one percent;
- Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, less than one percent;
- Former Virginia Gov. Jim Gilmore, Sen. Lindsey Graham, and former Sen. Rick Santorum, zero percent.
Out of the 400 voters surveyed, about half said they watched the most recent GOP debate, and of those who did, 27 percent said they thought Kasich did the best and 36 percent said Bush was worst.
The poll of Republican and Republican-leaning independents was conducted by phone between Oct. 29-Nov. 1, and carried a margin of error of plus or minus 4.9 percentage points.
Approximately nine out of 10 of those surveyed had participated in a previous primary election.
