Hillary Clinton was in a surgical boot and on crutches Monday after breaking her toe in a fall on a stairway — forcing her to cancel some of her British media interviews, the Daily Mail reported.

The 69-year-old former Democratic presidential nominee recounted the incident on the BBC program The Graham Norton Show, telling the host she took a tumble in high heels while holding a cup of coffee; the fall forced her to pull out of scheduled TV and radio appearances including ITV's This Morning and Woman's Hour on Radio 4.

"I was running down the stairs in heels with a cup of coffee in hand," she told the host, the Guardian reported. "I was talking over my shoulder and my heel caught, and I fell backwards. I tried to get up and it really hurt. I've broken my toe."

Clinton is in Britain on a book tour for her 2016 election loss memoir, "What Happened."

According to The Guardian, "This Morning" host Philip Schofield said on Snapchat: "Supposed to be interviewing Hillary Clinton . . . but she's fallen over and hurt her foot!! Gutted."

Host Jane Garvey on "Women's Hour" told listeners initially Clinton was delayed, then posted on Twitter: 'I'd read the book and everything. Apologies."

Clinton's spokesman tweeted the "Women's Hour" interview was being taped later Monday and would run Tuesday.

Clinton's health was a topic of conversation during last year's election, after coughing spells and a stumble during the Sept. 11 memorial service last year, when she announced she'd been diagnosed with pneumonia.

When she was secretary of state, Clinton fell, hit her head and sustained a concussion in 2012.

Weeks after the fall, doctors reportedly found a blood clot in Clinton's head that was dissolved through medication.
