Tennessee Republican Sen. Bob Corker didn't properly disclose at least $2 million in income from real estate, hedge funds and other investments until last Friday.

The Wall Street Journal reports the third-ranking Republican on the Senate Banking Committee filed amendments Friday for fix errors in personal financial reports going as far back as 2007.

"I am extremely disappointed in the filing errors that were made in earlier financial disclosure reports," Corker said in the statement, the Journal reports.
"After completing a full, third-party review, we have corrected this oversight."

No punishment is expected, the Journal reports.

"This is not a situation calling for punishment or admonition by the Ethics Committee," Robert Walker, a former chief counsel for the Senate ethics panel, tells the Journal.

But he says the committee could use the issue as a "teaching moment" so lawmakers would "fully understand these requirements before filing their annual forms."
