Half of black Democratic primary voters say they support former Vice President Joe Biden, a new poll shows.
In the Economist/YouGov survey released Thursday, Biden garnered 50% percent of black Democratic voters, Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., pulled in 10%, and Sen. Kamala Harris, D-Calif., had 7%. Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., and former Texas Democratic Rep. Beto O’Rourke tied with 4% each.
A Economist/YouGov poll released last week showed Biden with 45% among those voters.
In other findings:
- South Bend, Ind., Mayor Pete Buttigieg pulled in just 1% support among black voters; he had gotten 3% in the previous survey.
- Warren had 22% of white voters' support; 18% picked Biden; Sanders took 13%.
- Overall, Biden is the top choice for Democrats in the poll:
- Biden 26% support.
- Warren 16%.
- Sanders at 12%.
- Buttigieg 8%.
- And Harris 6%.
The poll's margin of error is plus or minus 3 percentage points.
