Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid cares nothing about Kate Steinle, the 32-year-old woman who was shot to death by an illegal immigrant in San Francisco on July 1, Fox News host Bill O'Reilly said Tuesday in the wake of
Senate Democrats voting down a bill aimed at cutting down on criminal illegal immigrants in the country.
"Sen. Reid, the poster boy for anarchy, could not care less about the death of Kate Steinle – could not care less," O'Reilly said Tuesday on Fox News Channel's
"The O'Reilly Factor." "All he cares about is complete amnesty for undocumented immigrants. That's it."
Earlier Tuesday, Reid blasted O'Reilly and GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump who have called for tougher laws against criminal illegal immigrants. O'Reilly has pushed hard on his show for the legislation he has dubbed "Kate's Law."
"Democrats believe local communities and local law enforcement are better judges of what keeps their communities safe than Donald Trump or Bill O'Reilly," Reid said from the Senate floor. "The safety of our neighborhoods and local committees should not be a pawn for Republican's latest gambit tied to failure to act on comprehensive immigration reform."
O'Reilly also blasted Republican leadership for tying "Kate's Law" to a bill to drop federal funding to sanctuary cities. They knew the combined bill wouldn't pass, O'Reilly said.
Sen. Chuck Grassley of Iowa is now trying to get a standalone vote, and O'Reilly told Sen. Pat Toomey of Pennsylvania, a sponsor of the bill, to push Republicans on passing it.
"Now, I want you to tell Senator Mark Kirk, a Republican from Illinois, that he better wise up. He was the lone Republican who voted against defunding sanctuary cities and Kate's Law," O'Reilly said. "He better wise up, this man. I'm coming after him unless he changes his mind."
He also said Toomey should deliver a message to GOP leadership for him: "I ain't going away."
"It better get done soon because I know where they live," O'Reilly said. "And, believe me, we will come right to them."
