Former President Bill Clinton defended his wife, Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton, for her controversial use of a private email server while she was secretary of state, saying the entire affair and FBI investigation is only a game concocted by her opponents, LawNewz.com reports.

The former president made the claim at a campaign stop in Kokomo, Indiana, just days ahead of the state's crucial primary, stressing that Hillary Clinton turned over the 55,000 printed pages of emails to the State Department in the name of transparency.

But as LawNewz.com points out, no other secretary of state had ever conducted official business while using a private email account, and those she turned over to authorities did not include an additional 30,000 messages that she determined on her own to be personal ones.

Bill Clinton also defended his wife by saying that she could not have known that she was doing wrong because all the emails were determined to be classified only after the fact.

The Daily Caller points out, however, that this ignores the fact that Hillary Clinton received classified indoctrination training before becoming secretary of state, which includes how both to identify classified material and to protect any information that may be become classified.

She also received an additional warning about the difficulties in security of BlackBerry devices such as the one she used.
