New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio on Saturday dismissed the court testimony of a donor who claimed that he bought access to the Democrat's office, calling him a "liar."

"Jona Rechnitz has had his turn," de Blasio told reporters at a news conference, The New York Times reports. "Now it’s my turn to tell you the truth.

"Jona Rechnitz is a liar and a felon," the mayor said. "It’s as simple as that."

Rechnitz discussed his relationship with de Blasio in his testimony in a trial of Norman Seabrook in Federal District Court in Manhattan.

Seabrook is on trial for allegedly accepting kickbacks involving the investment of retirement funds for a correctional officers' union that he once led.

Rechnitz testified that donations to de Blasio's campaign and an electoral fund established by the mayor gave him access to City Hall and personal favors, the Times reports.

De Blasio said he recalled meeting with Rechnitz in 2013 after the Democratic primary, though not any of the other contact that Rechnitz described in his testimony.

Rechnitz has cooperated in past investigations into de Blasio's fundraising practices — and none of the probes resulted in charges against the mayor.

The mayor has denied giving special privileges to donors, and he accused Rechnitz of trying to "besmirch" him ahead of the Nov. 7 election, according to the Times.
