Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., on Wednesday will meet with female staffers who have shared experiences of harassment by male supervisors while working on his 2016 presidential campaign, BuzzFeed News reports.

Buzzfeed reported Sanders, 77, paid for his former staffers to come to Washington through his campaign account. Two facilitators from Working IDEAL consultants, a firm focused on workplace diversity, will run the meeting.

The report comes after Politico in late December said more than two dozen women and men who worked on Sanders' campaign sought a meeting to produce a plan for "implementing concrete sexual harassment policies and procedures; and a commitment to hiring diverse leadership to preempt the possibility of replicating the predatory culture from the first presidential campaign."

The controversy has raised fresh questions about Sanders' potential second run in 2020.

Sanders said on Capitol Hill last week the alleged misconduct by male aides "was absolutely unacceptable and certainly not what a progressive campaign or any campaign should be about." He said rhetoric about "ending sexism and ending all forms of discrimination . . . cannot just be words."
