President Barack Obama's approval rating has rocketed to a surprising 55 percent in the final months of his second-term in office because of a number of successful national turnarounds, veteran pollster John Zogby tells Newsmax TV.

The 55 percent matches the commander-in-chief's best ratings since his first year in office and the highest ratings of his second term, according to a new CNN/ORC poll.

"When you take the perspective look at unemployment, it's half of what it is was," Zogby told Bill Tucker, guest host of "The Steve Malzberg Show."

"Wages are on the increase. He has reduced America's presence in two ugly ill-begotten wars and there's a record of success. For those who like the climate agreement — I'm one of them — there's an indeed a record of accomplishment there."

As well, rights for the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community has been expanded, he noted.

"The lives of our friends and relatives who are gay and transgender is decidedly better off than what it was and so on," Zogby said.

Zogby, a senior Partner at John Zogby Strategies, is also director of the Keenan Center for Entrepreneurship, and author of "We Are Many, We Are One: Neo-Tribes and Tribal Analytics in 21st Century," published by Paramount Market Publishing.
