At least five people were killed, including one resident and four firefighters, when a residential building on the outskirts of Bangkok collapsed on Saturday.

The moment of the deadly collapse was captured on an action camera by a local firefighter at the scene.

"I heard sound of something break and the whole building came down within split seconds," the firefighter who filmed the video told Reuters. "The rescue team were told to leave the building because the structure looked weak," he added.

The three storey structure caught fire at 6 am local time, the cause of the fire remains unknown.

Rescue efforts were halted in the evening after no signs of possible life were detected.
