The Department of Homeland Security will likely expand its ban on laptops on commercial jetliners to include flights coming into the U.S. out of airports in the United Kingdom and Europe, CBS News reports.

"We have not made any decisions on expanding the electronics ban; however, we are continuously assessing security directives based on intelligence and will make changes when necessary to keep travelers safe,” the Transportation Security Administration told CBS News in a statement.

Most carry-on electronic devices larger than a smartphone are temporarily banned from being carried onto airplanes on flights to the U.S. from ten countries: Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait, Morocco, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and United Arab Emirates (U.A.E.)
