A Florida teacher discovered a box labeled "Provisional Ballot Box" in the storage area of her school Thursday, sparking concern about whether the box contained ballots and whether or not they were counted.
Lakeisha Williams, who teaches at Miramar Elementary School in Broward County, told the New York Post that election workers apparently left the box behind when they packed up and left after Tuesday's midterms.
"I went into the area that we use for storage and saw it in there," Williams said.
Williams did not touch the box, open it, or even look inside of it so as not to tamper with it. After alerting the school's principal, a local state representative was called and the box was eventually taken away.
The Florida Senate and gubernatorial races have yet to be decided as votes are still being counted and ballots are discovered. Gov. Rick Scott holds a slim lead in the Senate race and filed a lawsuit Thursday against Broward County elections supervisor Brenda Snipes regarding the ballot chaos.
