Athletes competing in the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea next week will be getting a lot more than medals this year.

They also will be getting about 110,000 condoms, the South China Morning Post reports.

That's a record for the Winter Games.

The total works out to more than 37 condoms for each of the 2,925 athletes at the two-week long Games, which start Feb. 9.

"Baskets with condoms will be placed at both men's and women's toilets" at athletes' villages in Pyeongchang and Gangneung, the main press center, the media village and medical centers, organizers say.

Rubber manufacturer Convenience Co. says it has donated 100,000 condoms, largely for "the prevention of the spread of the HIV virus."

Company spokesman Chung Geun-sik said most of the condoms would probably be taken home — unused — as souvenirs. "We don't expect the athletes to use them all," he said.

The total is 10,000 more than were handed out at the Winter Games in Vancouver in 2010 or Sochi in 2014.

It's not an Olympic record, though.

According to CNN, more than 450,00 were distributed at the 2016 Summer Games in Rio de Janeiro — or about 42 condoms per person.

Most athletes won't talk about sexual activity at the Games.

Former Olympic swimming champ Dara Torres told CNN in 2012: "What happens in the (Olympic) Village stays in the Village."
