Rush: Romney Too Quick to Promise a Compromise

Rush Limbaugh on Monday asked the Republican presidential front-runner to make one more flip-flop if he is elected — go back on his word to work with congressional Democrats.

Mitt Romney made the pledge during Sunday morning's GOP candidates' debate in New Hampshire, and Limbaugh insisted to his radio listeners it was the wrong thing to say.

"Who in the world is out talking about compromising with the other party?" the radio talk-show host asked rhetorically. "I don't even hear Democratic critics bringing this up.

"I don't know where this comes from," Limbaugh added. "And I'm hoping that Romney will flip-flop on this at some point. But how will we know?"

Limbaugh said that Romney's willingness to compromise comes just days after he was endorsed by the Republican's 2008 candidate John McCain.

"This is right out of the McCain campaign," he said, and then started to imitate the Arizona senator. "I'm the guy that can cross the aisle. I've been crossing the aisle my whole life. I'm the guy that can do it. I'm the guy that's gonna make your side tolerate our wackos and our extremists."

Limbaugh called Romney's commitment to compromise "the most profound such statement so far in this campaign."
