A bible that flew on Apollo 13 in 1970 is being auctioned off this week, with bidding starting at $50,000, Fox News reports.

The "Lunar Bibles" were created by the Apollo Prayer League, a group founded in 1968 by a NASA scientist whose overreaching mission was to pray for the safety of the astronauts and the skill of NASA employees who built the rockets and, land a Bible on the moon.

The Apollo 13 Microfilm Bible flew onboard the Apollo 13 mission to the moon and comes from the personal collection of former NASA astronaut Fred Haise, who flew as lunar module pilot on Apollo 13. It comes with two certificates of authenticity, including a letter signed by the Apollo 13 crew confirming it flew on their mission.

Apollo 13 never made it to the moon. Two days into the flight, an explosion on the service module forced the three astronauts to use the lunar module as a lifeboat. NASA aborted the moon landing and focused instead on finding a way to get the crew back to Earth safely.

The crew successfully splashed down April 17, 1970.
