Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli will perform at a fundraiser for independent 2024 presidential candidate Robert Kennedy Jr., it has been announced.
Bocelli will join "well wishers" who include actor Martin Sheen, retired boxer Mike Tyson, singer Dionne Warwick, and Kennedy's actress wife Cheryl Hines, organizers said.
In the past, Bocelli had agreed to perform for both former President Donald Trump and President Joe Biden.
In 2016, Bocelli canceled his appearance at Trump's inauguration ceremony after fans criticized the planned performance on social media and called for a boycott of his work, The Christian Science Monitor reported.
The outlet added that Trump and Bocelli have an amicable history, with the singer having performed at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida.
Bocelli and his daughter, Virginia, performed during a holiday celebration at the Biden White House in December 2021.
This month's fundraiser, which will double as a 70th birthday party for RFK, will be held Jan. 22 in the wealthy resort town of Indian Wells, California, DailyMail.com reported.
Kennedy's birthday is Jan. 17.
In September, musician Eric Clapton performed at a private fundraiser and helped raise more than $2 million for RFK, DailyMail.com reported. Both Kennedy and Clapton were opponents of COVID vaccine mandates.
Other celebrities who have expressed support for Kennedy include actors Pierce Brosnan, Woody Harrelson, Rob Schneider, and Alicia Silverstone, comedian Joe Rogan, and NFL quarterback Aaron Rodgers, according to The Messenger.
Former NBA star John Stockton has also backed Kennedy.
Bocelli, who lost his sight at age 12, has sold close to 90 million records worldwide.
On Wednesday, it was announced that Kennedy has collected enough signatures to appear on the 2024 presidential ballot in Utah — the first state in which the nephew of former President John F. Kennedy has qualified.
