Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., has done more than just catch the ears of the progressive left in the United States; she has also caught President Donald Trump's eye and attention, according to The Guardian.
"She's got talent," President Trump told author Tim Alberta in late 2018 for his book "American Carnage: On the Front Lines of the Republican Civil War and the Rise of President Trump." "Now, that's the good news. The bad news: she doesn't know anything.
"She's got a good sense, an 'it' factor, which is pretty good, but she knows nothing. But with time, she has real potential."
The praise from the president to one of his fiercest, young critics comes in the book to be released later this month. President Trump recalled the first time he saw Rep. Ocasio-Cortez "ranting and raving" watching TV with political advisers, per the report.
"I see a young woman, ranting and raving like a lunatic on a street corner, and I said: 'That's interesting, go back,'" President Trump told Alberta for the book, per The Guardian.
The president "became enamored" and "starstruck" by AOC, according to Alberta's book.
President Trump's first-sight review of AOC show he is "good at talent," he reportedly told advisers.
"I spotted talent," President Trump said, per the book. "She's got a certain talent."
Publicly, President Trump has ripped AOC's Green New Deal as a losing Democratic campaign platform, calling it the work of "a young bartender" – although he did say she was "a wonderful young woman," according to the report.
