Allen West: Obama, Hillary Clinton Helped Strengthen ISIS

Monday, 16 February 2015 07:13 PM EST

Blame President Barack Obama and former secretary of State Hillary Clinton for turning Libya into a "feeding ground" for the Islamic State (ISIS), says former Rep. Allen West, president and CEO of the National Center for Policy Analysis.

"Let's understand who destabilized Libya. Unconstitutionally, not in concert with the War Powers Act Resolution," West, a Florida Republican, said Monday on "The Steve Malzberg Show" on Newsmax TV.

"Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton. We know from those tapes the Pentagon has released that [Libyan strongman Muammar] Gaddafi's son was more than willing to have a peaceful transition. Yet, we turned Libya over to the militant Islamists and now is a feeding ground for ISIS.

"Thank God you have leaders such as King Abdullah of Jordan and General al-Sisi in Egypt that realize what you must do to combat this enemy. No words and no speeches. You start bombing them."

West's comments came after Egypt bombed ISIS militants in neighboring Libya and called on the U.S. and Europe to join an international war against ISIS after extremists beheaded a group of 21 Egyptian Christians.

The airstrikes bring Egypt overtly into Libya's turmoil, a reflection of Cairo's increasing alarm. Egypt now faces threats on two fronts — a growing stronghold of radicals on its western border and a militant insurgency of ISIS allies on its eastern flank in the Sinai Peninsula — as well as its own internal challenges.

West — author of "Guardian of the Republic: An American Ronin's Journey to Faith, Family and Freedom," written with Michele Hickford and published by Crown Forum — also weighed in on FBI Director James Comey’s controversial speech about policing and race relations in the U.S.

"It's very important that we stop with the race baiting and the blaming everything on racism and let's start to look at some of the policies and what they have done in the black community," West said.

"The decimation of the family, the lack of education opportunities, failing schools and yet, you don't hear any chiming in from the left about school choice vouchers or even charter schools."

"There are things that can be done and yet, you don't hear those solutions coming from the voices of the Al Sharptons, the Jesse Jacksons, or any of the other race baiters out there."
