Tuesday's Election Results at a Glance

Rick Santorum won both the Alabama and Mississippi primaries Tuesday.

Speaking to supporters in Lafayette, La., Tuesday night, Santorum began  with, "Well, we did it again." He said ordinary folks backing him are "defying the odds."

"This campaign is about ordinary folks doing extraordinary things. Sort of like America," Santorum continued.

Caucuses in Hawaii and American Samoa were also on the calendar in the race to pick an opponent to President Barack Obama this fall.

Results of Tuesday's elections, based on reporting by the major television networks:


Alabama Primary 

Rick Santorum .................. 35%

Newt Gingrich .................. 29%

Mitt Romney ..................... 29%

Ron Paul ........................... 5%


Mississippi Primary 


Rick Santorum .................. 33%

Newt Gingrich .................. 31%

Mitt Romney ..................... 30%

Ron Paul ........................... 4%


Hawaii Caucuses


Mitt Romney ..................... 45%
