Three Democratic senators are urging an "immediate review" of President Donald Trump's senior adviser Jared Kushner's security clearance, The Hill is reporting.
The senators, Al Franken of Minnesota, Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut and Mazie Hirono of Hawaii are concerned about what contacts Kushner, Trump's son-in-law, included on his security clearance forms, according to website.
The Democrats want Kushner's clearance suspended while it is under review, The Hill said.
"Such ongoing disclosures raise serious questions concerning Mr. Kushner's suitability for continued access to classified information," the senators wrote in a letter to the director of White Management and Office of Administration. The senators were referring to reports that Kushner omitted some meetings with Russian nationals from his clearance form.
"Given Mr. Kushner's pattern of delay in reporting contacts, we are deeply concerned that he may not have disclosed additional contacts with foreign individuals or had other inappropriate Russian contacts."
Kushner is under fire for attending a July 2016 meeting with Russia lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya. Trump's son, Donald Trump Jr., also attended the meeting after being promised information about Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, the website said.
"Given the enormity of the outstanding national security concerns regarding his conduct, Mr. Kushner should not retain access to our nation's most critical secrets," the senators wrote in the letter.
The senators cited Kushner's meeting with Veselnitskaya, in addition to a meeting he reportedly had with Russian banker Sergey Gorkov, The Hill said.
The letter is just the latest call to call to revoke or review Kushner's security clearance.
Meanwhile, White House officials are concerned Kushner may not be granted a final security clearance, CNN reported.
And some GOP lawmakers also have raised questions about omissions and subsequent updates to the form Kushner filled out for a security clearance, the news network reported.
