Fox News chief Roger Ailes acknowledged on Thursday that he was making changes to his top-rated network's prime-time lineup, but made it clear he was "not reacting to CNN and MSNBC."
"My near-term plans are to put my competitors out of business completely," Ailes said in an interview at 21st Century Fox's "investor day" with Fox News' Neil Cavuto.
Ailes' comments, in which he referred to shifts at CNN this week regarding Anderson Cooper, were
reported by Variety.
"One of my jobs is to get the best audience flow between shows and that's one of the reasons I'm making a few changes right now," Ailes added.
The Drudge Report disclosed on Thursday that Fox rising star Megyn Kelly was going to take over the prime-time slot currently hosted by talk superstar Sean Hannity.
The change would mark the first major shift in Fox's prime-time programming in a decade.
